The hanging floral wreath  is by far my most requested prop from parents of baby girls. At least 50% of my clients with baby girls request this. I completely understand the draw to this prop, as it is so feminine. The first time I ever attempted this shot was back in 2016 with my niece Brylee. As soon as I posted this image to my website, every client with a baby girl began requesting this. I didn’t want to do things exactly the same with each baby, so I purchased more flowers and more floral backdrops. This way,  I could customize the prop for my clients. I prefer my sessions to have a basic color scheme so that all images in a client’s gallery go well together. For example, my most requested color scheme for baby girls is pink and cream. I tend to do this version of the floral wreath the most often.

Here are a few other examples of the floral wreath prop with different backdrops and florals. Their mom wanted something similar but  distinct for each baby. I am sure these look beautiful hanging side by side on her wall!!Baby Photographer Vancouver WA Gretchen Barros Photography Newborn in Floral Wreath BlueBaby Photographer Vancouver WA Gretchen Barros Photography Newborn in Floral Wreath Purple

Many clients don’t realize that when I create these images, the baby is actually never really suspended in the wreath. I remember one time, when a mom and a dad were at my studio with their newborn, and the mom really wanted her daughter in the wreath. The dad looked at her and said “Are you sure? That looks dangerous!!” I laughed and explained that the baby will never be in any danger and that the shot is a composite of two images.

The baby does lay in the wreath, but with a spotter right next to the baby to ensure that the baby is safe. I get the shot with the baby, then the baby comes out and I suspend the wreath and get a shot with the empty wreath. I will then merge these images in photoshop to get the final image. Here is how it looks in action. Baby Photographer Vancouver WA Gretchen Barros Photography Newborn in Floral Wreath Behind the Scenes
