Lakyn and Derrick’s Wedding: May 14th, 2011

I am so excited to share these photos! This is the wedding of Lakyn and Derrick. It took place on May 14th, 2011, at The Lakes clubhouse in Menifee, CA. I am very close with this couple and I was so thrilled when they asked me to shoot their wedding!

I started the day out by taking photos of the Derrick and his groomsmen getting ready. When I arrived, the guys were playing a heated game of wiffle ball. Fortunately, the guys were ready to stop playing for a few getting ready photos.

The guys all wore purple argyle socks. I loved these!

After the guys finished getting ready, it was time for another game of wiffle ball. IN TUXES!

Then I was off to take photos of the bride getting ready.

Here are shots of the dress and the rings. Lakyn decorated the hanger specifically for this shot.

It was very clear that Lakyn LOVES purple. The theme color of the wedding was purple, purple, and more purple!

Derrick made such a handsome groom! If I could do a wolf call in this post, I would. ( I can’t whistle to save my life, unfortunately.)

The groomsmen were so much fun to shoot and were willing to try all sorts of poses. The second one is the “Napoleon” pose. (Napoleon Bonaparte, not Dynamite.)

I was so very fortunate to have such a photogenic bride. Here are the ever-gorgeous Lakyn, her beautiful bridesmaids, and lovely flower girls.

The ceremony itself was beautiful! It was a gorgeous day. A bit windy, but gorgeous. ( At one point I was worried that the arbor would come tumbling down!) Lakyn and Derrick also opted for a little twist from a traditional ceremony. Rather than the traditional unity candles, Derrick and Lakyn put letters to each other in wine box and nailed it shut during one portion of the ceremony. The wine box is to be opened on their 5th wedding anniversary. How sweet!
